So, it’s late. I worked a long, hard day today. We were one down in the kitchen unexpectedly, and tonight was the night of the canapé party. So, to be perfectly honest, I haven’t had much time to think about anything other than work. Even blogging, so forgive me if this post is a bit average. However, as I now have to work on Sunday (boo), I have got tomorrow off work (hoorah!) which means that I will have time tomorrow to cook something good and tell you all about it. All I should be eating at the moment is salad and dust, but all I’ve been thinking about all week is bloody cake. So, tomorrow I think I’ll be making some chocolate brownies, and then mostly giving them away to anyone who’ll eat them to ensure that I don’t.
The highlight of my evening was getting home to find that Diesel had made the dinner (what a little treasure). It was only a really simple chicken and avocado salad but it was delicious, and after spending three hours feeding strangers, it was a wonderful thing to get home to find that someone had cooked (well, made a salad) for me. In other news, I am running my own function on Sunday for the first time, which is terrifying but also a bit exciting. It’s only a canapé party at a private house, but as I’ll be on my own it feels like a pretty big deal. Anyway, I’ll no doubt be posting about it after the event. Unfortunately, as you’ve probably already guessed my camera really is terrible, so I’m struggling to take any decent photos but I’ll try my best. The hunt for an affordable/good quality camera has become a little bit more urgent, and I’ve been soliciting advice from many people. To illustrate the point I’ve included a a photo I took this evening of some of the canapés we served (gruyere souffle tarts) - I think you’ll see what I mean. Oh, and if you're looking at the picture below and wondering who the chump in whites holding the meat is - that's me. I trimmed this whole beef fillet today, and insisted on having this photo taken because it is literally the biggest fillet I have ever seen in my whole life. This cow must have been about 5 meters tall. Look at the bloody size of it!
